Bill Johnson represents the fourth generation that has farmed his family run farm, purchased by his great grandfather in 1887. Johnson has farmed most of his life, starting as a teenage boy in Shelby County, Iowa. One of his largest storage bins (behind Johnson) holds 27,000 bushels of corn.
Johnson also has eight tractors in sheds around his farm, as well as a planter, combine and grain wagon. He and his wife, Karen, have written two books on farming, drawing from journals they've kept since their marriage in 1969. Photo by David Peterson
